The best time for Tanzania safari is June–October (dry season) for peak wildlife viewing. January–March is the green season — fewer crowds, lower prices, and excellent calving in the southern Serengeti. The wildebeest migration is year-round but peaks in the Serengeti July–October.
Tanzania has some of Africa's highest park fees. Serengeti costs $82/day for non-resident adults, Ngorongoro Crater $82/day plus a $200 crater access fee. Budget $150–$250/day in park fees alone on top of your accommodation and guide costs.
Absolutely — the "safari and beach" combination is Tanzania's most popular package. A typical itinerary is 5–7 days on safari (Serengeti/Ngorongoro) followed by 3–4 days on Zanzibar's beaches. Coastal Aviation and Zanair operate direct flights from the Serengeti to Zanzibar.
Both countries excel at different things. Tanzania has larger protected areas, fewer tourists in peak season, and is home to the Serengeti. Kenya offers more accessible infrastructure, the Masai Mara's dramatic migration crossings, and generally lower park fees. Many travellers do both on a combined East Africa safari.
