After breakfast, luggage will be loaded to your safari car and drive south through Arusha to prehistoric-looking Tarangire National Park. You will arrive at your safari lodge in time for lunch. After a hot lunch at your hotel, you will embark upon an afternoon of game viewing in a landscape dotted with century-old baobab trees and umbrella-thorn acacias, visiting the Silalei Swamp and Tarangire River which is the centerpiece of this park, famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. In the dry season large numbers of animals congregate along this life-giving river which provides the only permanent water for wildlife in the area. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra, and over 300 species of birds. Recommended Lodge | Lake Burunge Baobab Tented Lodge
Today you have an early start, collecting breakfast and lunch boxes around 6:45 am. Upon arriving at the gate to Ngorongoro Crater you will descend to the crater floor for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive eco-system, enjoying abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the crater, the heart of the conservation area. You will enjoy your boxed breakfast at one of the picnic sites on the crater floor, as will as you lunch later in the day. These drives provide one of the best opportunities in Africa to view Black Rhino, which tend to spend their time on the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles; its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors. Another big draw to this picturesque caldera, is its dense population of predators, which include lion, hyena, jackal, and if lucky, the small cats like the rare caracal and serval as well as the African wild cat which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. You will also visit the hippo pool near the Mandusi Swamp Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner is one of the main features of the crater, the Lerai Forest, as well as other parts of the crater. Recommended Lodge | Lake Masek Tented Camp
Today you enjoy breakfast at the lodge, after which you pack and leave the lodge for your drive to the Central Serengeti with game viewing drive along the way. The next two days will be spent exploring the vast Serengeti and its endless plains. You have the option of breaking the day into two, by doing early morning and late afternoon game viewing, driving through the central Serengeti in the golden light of dawn looking for special wildlife interactions and photographic opportunities. You will depart the Lodge at first light with a boxed breakfast for a morning of wildlife viewing before returning to camp for a hot lunch and rest before heading back out again in the afternoon. As another option, you may choose to enjoy a more leisurely breakfast at the camp, instead of a picnic breakfast, and depart with boxed lunches for a full day of game drives exploring different areas of the central Serengeti.. Areas to be visited are the Retima hippo pool, Maasai and Sametu kopjes and plains as well as Moru and Simba kopjes. The Central Serengeti and Seronera River Valley are home to a great diversity of wildlife due to its unique ecological conditions as a transition zone where two distinctly different habitats, the plain and the woodlands, merge and various species of wildlife from both habitats coexist. Recommended Lodge | Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge
Today after breakfast, you drive to the northern Serengeti with game viewing en route. You will visit the Lobo valley and kopjes as well as the Bologonja area before getting to Kogatende (the northern part of Serengeti) where the Mara River is located. The northern Serengeti is home to a huge number of resident animals including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, eland, Black Rhino and, occasionally, wild dogs.. This is also a wonderful time of year to witness one of three significant events that happens during the Great Migration – the annual river crossings. Your days will be a combination of looking for good river crossings and other wildlife interactions along the Mara River, Wogakuria kopjes, and the Lamai triangle (A triangular shaped area just north of the Mara River). The northern Serengeti and the entire Mara River area are truly awe-inspiring and will surely be one of the highlights of your safari. Recommended Lodge | Nyikani Migration Camp
Today you will have an early breakfast at the camp and then leave for Kogatende Airstrip enjoying game siting enroute. A Bush plane will await your arrival for your flight to Arusha. Once back in Arusha you will stop at the Cultural Heritage Center for lunch and optional shopping. You will then be driven to Kahawa House for a day room where you can rest and clean up before an early farewell dinner with your guide. After dinner you will be driven to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home. Day room at Kahawa House
