Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park is defined by its elephants — an estimated 120,000 of them, the largest concentration anywhere in Africa. During the dry season from May to October, the Chobe River becomes a wildlife superhighway as thousands of elephants, buffalo, and antelope converge on its banks for water.

The Chobe River boat safari is one of southern Africa's iconic experiences. Floating along the river at sunset, watching herds of elephants swimming and bathing just metres from the boat, with hippos snorting and fish eagles calling overhead, is unforgettable. The riverfront area around Kasane offers the most accessible game viewing in Botswana.

Beyond the riverfront, Chobe encompasses four distinct ecosystems: the Savuti Channel area (famous for its bull elephants and lion-elephant conflicts), the Linyanti marshes (remote and exclusive), the Nogatsaa grasslands (seasonal game concentrations), and the Chobe Forest Reserve (rare sable and roan antelope).
