Northern Serengeti Safari Guide

The northern Serengeti, centred on the Kogatende area near the Mara River, is where the Great Migration reaches its most dramatic crescendo. From July to October, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra gather on the banks of the Mara River, building the courage to cross through crocodile-infested waters.

These river crossings are among the most extraordinary wildlife spectacles on Earth — thousands of animals plunging into the river, scrambling up muddy banks, while Nile crocodiles and waiting predators take their toll. The area is remote and relatively uncrowded compared to central Serengeti, with a handful of exclusive tented camps offering front-row seats to the drama.
