Zambia · Zambezi Valley
Paddle alongside elephants. Walk the escarpment above the flood plain. Africa's finest river safari.
Multi-day or day paddles along the Zambezi — the park's defining activity. Paddle past pods of hippos, crocodiles sunning on banks, and elephants cooling in the shallows. Guides carry rifles for shore landings. Best May–August when water is calm.
Silent approach to wildlife along the riverbank and islands. Excellent for elephants, buffalo, and birdlife. Evening boat cruises at sunset are a camp staple.
Guided walks on the Zambezi escarpment and along flood channels. The elevated escarpment offers panoramic views over the park. An armed guide leads; minimum 4 nights recommended to fully experience walking.
Open-vehicle drives through mopane and acacia woodland and along the floodplain. Lion, leopard, wild dog, and buffalo. Best in dry season when grass is low.
The Zambezi is Africa's premier tigerfish destination. Charter a boat with a specialist guide August–November for catch-and-release trophy fishing. Largest tigerfish exceed 12kg.
Spotlight drives for leopard, civets, genets, serval, and honey badger. Hyena calls are a nightly soundtrack along the river edge.
Half or full day on the river from your camp. Paddle down to a lunch spot on a sandbank, then game drive back. No camping — perfect for those wanting the experience without committing to a full expedition.
The classic Lower Zambezi experience. Sleep in fly camps on sandbanks or islands. All equipment carried in the canoes. Guides set up camp; chef prepares meals over a campfire. Maximum 8 paddlers per trip.
