Today is all about experiencing the wilderness beyond the safari vehicle. Begin with a guided walking safari, accompanied by an experienced ranger and private safari guide. Today you travel toward Lake Manyara National Park, a small but extraordinarily diverse park set between the shimmering lake and the dramatic walls of the Great Rift Valley. Enter the park and drive beneath the canopy of its lush groundwater forest, where troops of baboons and blue monkeys move through the trees. As the forest gives way to open woodland and grassland, watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and other wildlife. Continue toward the shores of Lake Manyara, where thousands of birds gather in and around the shallow alkaline waters. Depending on the season, flamingos can create spectacular pink horizons. Spend time learning about the Hadzabe's hunting and gathering traditions and their intimate relationship with the bush.
